Scholarships
Alberta Grains has established a number of scholarships aimed at developing future industry leaders. These scholarships are available to post-secondary students in agriculture-related studies, as well as students with a demonstrated interest in entering a career in the agriculture industry.

Graduate Research Scholarship is Crop Science

Barley Scholarship
In support of the next generation of barley agronomists and scientists, Alberta Grains is excited to offer scholarships to students actively engaged in barley research.
Value: $2,000/ student
Number of Awards: Up to three awards are available based on student merit and alignment of their research to Alberta Barley Research Priorities.
Application Open: March 31, 2024
Closing Deadline: May 31, 2024
Eligibility: Full and part-time graduate and undergraduate students studying at Canadian academic institutions. Preference will be given to students who intend to have a career path involving work in agriculture or academia in Western Canada.
To apply, please submit the following:
- Letter confirming the student’s status from their academic supervisor
- CV
- One paragraph describing the student’s career goals
- A one-page summary of the student’s research project
Project summaries should include a statement of how the research could be beneficial to barley producers and the industry. Preference will be given to students with research projects that align with Alberta Grains 2024 Research Priorities.
